MANETTI SHREM. A time capsule that functions as an iceberg. The secret lives of cables. A parable born of a dream of a lost loved one. The aging skin of a dancer. All are bodies in motion and transformation: a body of work, a body of knowledge, a diseased body, bodily experience. Four California artists — including Phillip Byrne (M.F.A. 22) and Associate Professor of Art Beatriz Cortez — each present a new commissioned installation. Kang Seung Lee and Cortez are featured in the current Venice Biennale, and Candice Lin was in 2022’s edition. Free
GORMAN MUSEUM. In the solo exhibition, Brenda Mallory includes prints, multi-media and installation artworks to consider the complex relationships and structures of power and identity. A citizen of the Cherokee Nation who grew up in Oklahoma, lived experience deeply informs her practice, as do the histories of survival inherent to Indigenous peoples.
MANETTI SHREM. Start with dedicated art lovers and philanthropists Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem. Add 15 works from their collection by world-renowned artists — including Salvador Dalí, Vassily Kandinsky, Joan Miró and Francis Bacon. MANETTI SHREM. Ritual Clay brings together recent ceramic work by Cathy Lu, Paz G and Maryam Yousif. These contemporary Bay Area artists are united by their shared interest in clay as a link to the past and as a conduit of cultural knowledge. Free

GALLERY 1855. Karen Fess-Uecker's abilities developed not through formal schooling, but through studying other artist’s work either from books or participating in workshops and classes offered by artists she admired. Painting in watercolor, she learned to develop her color and continues to study color today with oil painter and colorist Elio Camacho.
NATSOULAS GALLERY. George Tchobanoglous is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UCD. At 15, he began printing black and white images in a makeshift darkroom in the cellar of his family’s farmhouse in Patterson, CA. In addition to photography, George is a passionate gardener and traveler. “Petals and Places” combines these two loves with pictures of flowers grown at home juxtaposed with memorable travel images. NATSOULAS GALLERY. Adam Forfang is a native to the Bay Area, trained at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco where he earned a BFA. He currently teaches locally, at Davis High School, and is a continued champion of arts education. Drawing from color theory and the aesthetics of pixelated images, Forfang transforms still-lifes, landscapes, and other scenes of every-day-life into optical illusions. His charming paintings defy the eye and remind you of the increasingly digital world of today. Free
