Where to Celebrate Nelson Mandela Day 2024 in Davis

By: International House Davis

International House Davis and UC Davis Global Affairs are excited to announce a special event in celebration of Mandela Day 2024.

This commemorative event will take place on July 18, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at International House Davis.

The evening will feature TED-style talks presented by UC Davis Mandela Washington Fellows visiting from Sub-Saharan Africa. Following these presentations, there will be an engaging conversation about the legacy of Nelson Mandela with Dr. Shingirai L. Taodzera of UC Davis and Duduzile “Dee” Zondo-Goins. Dee was a student leader in the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa during the 1970s and has an inspiring story of resilience and activism.

Attendees will have the opportunity to listen, learn, and be inspired to make a positive impact in their own communities. In addition to the stimulating talks and discussion, there will be a popcorn bar and dessert served.

Mandela Day is an annual global celebration on July 18th to honor the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela. This day calls for individuals, communities, and organizations to reflect on Mandela’s values and principles and to take action to create positive change in their communities.
