Call to Artists! Slice: A Juried Exhibit of Regional Art 2024
The Pence’s Slice exhibit, now in its 12th year, is open for submission by California artists working in any medium (except video or sound). This is an ‘open theme’ exhibit, displaying art that is conceptually thoughtful, technically skilled, and representative of contemporary trends in art.
Women’s Work
PENCE GALLERY. Women artists have long used humor and satire to critique the unequal treatment of women, in areas from reproductive rights to their depiction in the media. Assemblage vs. Sculpture: Found Object Sculpture with Amy Vidra
PENCE GALLERY. Both assemblage and sculpture combine various objects to create a three-dimensional work of art. A sculpture may use a limited palette of materials or colors to unify the piece to make it cohesive. In this three-hour workshop, students will learn the basics of sculpture with artist Amy Vidra. Participants will be guided through the fundamentals of sculpture and will have time to stroll through Davis to find their own inspirational found objects to include in their pieces.
