WOODLAND SENIOR CENTER. Tai chi (太极) is an ancient Chinese martial art that is practiced mainly for physical and mental health. Class covers postures, movements, and the simplified 8- and 24-forms. Your instructor, Tina Duan, is a tai chi expert who trained as a professional in China. Drop-ins welcome. First class is free! 9a—10a.
PENCE GALLERY. The Pence’s 6-session Healing Arts workshop uses art as a healing language for those experiencing grief from the loss of a loved one. Through the process of art making, participants will have opportunities for discussion, education, and connecting with peers in a safe and supportive space. Registration is required in advance through pencegallery.org. The workshop is on Fridays from May 2—June 6. 10a—11:45a. $25—35
DAVIS ARTS CENTER. Using hand-building techniques, students will learn three different ways to build a custom soap dish, and possibly a matching toothbrush holder. This is a two-day workshop and attendance is required for both. 1p—4p. $100
