This award of $4000 supports the creation of new work by emerging artists in California and the opportunity to share that work through an exhibit and an artist talk in January-February 2027 at the Pence. MANETTI SHREM MUSEUM. The Oakland-based artist is inspired by familial and global histories, food, music, and mourning. The exhibition features a reconfigured clock tower sculpture that alludes to market structures in the Eastern Mediterranean Levant region, and new works in ceramic and bronze that speak to familial and cultural ties across time. MANETTI SHREM MUSEUM. This exhibition is a working digitization laboratory and open storage featuring hundreds of works from the Fine Arts Collection, developed and presented in conjunction with UC Davis students in the Fall 2025 Exhibition Practicum course led by Assistant Professor Alexandra Sofroniew. Local residents throughout the Sacramento region are eligible to file their taxes for free through United Way California Capital Region’s Free Tax Prep program that runs through April 15. The program provides free tax help virtually and in person in multiple languages and locations across Amador, El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo counties.

PENCE GALLERY. Barbara Prodaniuk is a ceramic artist whose work is inspired by the forest, meadows, and waterways surrounding the Truckee area. GALLERY 625, WOODLAND. Featuring 21 Northern California artists and over 50 artworks, Color / Texture / Pattern highlights a wide range of perspectives, styles, and subject matter. Hosted by YoloArts in partnership with the Woodland Camera Forum, this photography exhibition aligns with Photography Month Sacramento 2026, in April. Thru April 23. Free
WOODLAND OPERA HOUSE. Set in 1692 Salem, Massachusetts, The Crucible follows the eruption of mass hysteria in a close-knit town after a group of young girls is discovered dancing in the woods. To avoid punishment, the girls begin accusing townspeople of witchcraft, igniting a wave of fear that fractures the wider community. Written in 1953 by famed American playwright Arthur Miller, the play is in part an allegory for the anti-communist hysteria of the McCarthy era, exploring the dangers of false accusations and the abuse of power. 2p—5p or 7:30p—10:30p. $20—45

This is an ‘open theme’ exhibit, which showcases art that is conceptually thoughtful, technically skilled, and representative of contemporary trends in art. Apply by May 12! $35—40
THE PAINT CHIP. Seeing The Same Thing Differently is a collaborative exhibition by husband and wife David Kalb & Nancy Gelbard, exploring how two artists respond to the same moments in distinct yet connected ways.
