JAN 30 THRU JUNE 25. MANETTI SHREM MUSEUM. The UC Davis Professor Emeritus' first solo U.S. museum exhibition in 20 years brings to light the pioneering artist’s rarely seen contributions to the history of contemporary painting and filmmaking, radical Black politics & to the story of California art. Integrates paintings & films by Henderson that offer new ideas about Black life in the visual languages of protest, Afro-futurism & surrealism.
LAKE SOLANO PARK. Spend a morning taking in the beautiful views of Lake Solano’s riparian habitat, with wonderful opportunities to spot some of the wildlife that calls Lake Solano home & to appreciate the changing of the seasons. Canoes, paddles & lifejackets will be provided free of charge, with a basic safety & paddling discussion at the beginning. Participants may want to bring water, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen & wear weather-appropriate warm clothing. You may get wet, so shoes/pants that can get wet & a change of clothes is recommended. Required day-use parking fee of $6 per vehicle (cash or check, exact change only) gains you admittance to the park for the rest of the day. Limited to 12 guests. RICHARD BRUNELLE PERFORMANCE HALL. Introduces young people to the instruments of a symphony orchestra & tells a story supported by orchestral music. Written by Anna Trigiano Moreno, composed by Ryan Suleiman, narrated by Soprano Ann Moss, performed by the Puppet Art Theatre Company & the Davis High School Symphony Orchestra, directed by Angelo Moreno. 11a.
