PENCE GALLERY. Barbara Prodaniuk is a ceramic artist whose work is inspired by the forest, meadows, and waterways surrounding the Truckee area. She explores the stories carried by the creatures and artifacts found in these environments through layered surfaces, organic textures, and sculpted imagery. 11:30a—5p. Free
DAVIS FRIENDS MEETINGHOUSE. Francisco Dominguez is a Sacramento-based documentary photographer, artist, and printmaker specializing in social justice, labor movements, protests, civil rights, and indigenous peoples. He will present a slide show of his photographs documenting the protests against Israel’s war on Gaza, and speak about the protest movement against the Gaza War. 7p—9p. Free
FERA HOUSE, DAVIS. This hands-on workshop introduces the basics of kokedama, a Japanese method of growing plants in moss-wrapped soil. Learn how to prepare soil, position the plant roots, and bind each piece with natural twine (or colorful wire!) to create gorgeous living art. STEPHENS BRANCH LIBRARY. Featuring a photo critique of member-submitted images. Participants discuss “why does this image work” as well as “why does this image not work” and how the image may be improved. 7:10p. Free
