This award of $4000 supports the creation of new work by emerging artists in California and the opportunity to share that work through an exhibit and an artist talk in January-February 2027 at the Pence. MANETTI SHREM MUSEUM. The Oakland-based artist is inspired by familial and global histories, food, music, and mourning. The exhibition features a reconfigured clock tower sculpture that alludes to market structures in the Eastern Mediterranean Levant region, and new works in ceramic and bronze that speak to familial and cultural ties across time. MANETTI SHREM MUSEUM. This exhibition is a working digitization laboratory and open storage featuring hundreds of works from the Fine Arts Collection, developed and presented in conjunction with UC Davis students in the Fall 2025 Exhibition Practicum course led by Assistant Professor Alexandra Sofroniew. Free
Local residents throughout the Sacramento region are eligible to file their taxes for free through United Way California Capital Region’s Free Tax Prep program that runs through April 15. The program provides free tax help virtually and in person in multiple languages and locations across Amador, El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo counties.

PENCE GALLERY. Barbara Prodaniuk is a ceramic artist whose work is inspired by the forest, meadows, and waterways surrounding the Truckee area. She explores the stories carried by the creatures and artifacts found in these environments through layered surfaces, organic textures, and sculpted imagery. 11:30a—5p. Free
WATERMELON MUSIC, THE MELON BALL. BanjerDan (Dan Mazer) is a banjo player/multi-instrumentalist based in Santa Cruz, CA. His music is an Americana mix, rooted in straight-ahead Bluegrass and branching out to include folk, country, blues, oldies, and other styles. 2p—4p. $40
WATERMELON MUSIC, THE MELON BALL. The banjo has taken Dan all across the U.S. and overseas, as a solo artist, as a member of bands, and in theatrical productions and orchestral performances. Some of the more notable venues include Opryland, USA, the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, the High Sierra Music Festival, the National Cherry Blossom Festival, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. 8p—10p. $20
