PENCE GALLERY. Rochelle Mason uses her imagination in painting bold, colorful abstracts of beautifully designed animals by applying swirling, flowing brushstrokes and defining intriguing shapes. Mason loosely bases her Focus on Nature: Beyond Eden series on animals considered unpopular and unappreciated with the purpose of helping people transcend “speciesism.” 11:30a—5p. Free

PENCE GALLERY. This fun and informative workshop will introduce aspects of mammals and birds to better understand the subjects and improve artistic renderings. Students will study the general anatomy of the body, how to add facial expressions and “personality,” and then practice drawing animals in pencil. VILLAGE HOMES COMMUNITY CENTER. Village Dance is an ecstatic dance inspired, intentional, playful, joyful, free-form dance party. We gather once per month for a journey of music, movement, and mindfulness. We start with an opening circle, followed by music and movement, and end with a closing circle. 11a—1:30p. $15—25
DAVIS ARTS CENTER. This two-day class led by Tony Berger is filled with instruction, practice, music, and some graffiti history, with lots of take home art and supplies for each student. Learn the fundamentals of graffiti lettering and start your journey! 12p—4p. $250
MELON BALL, WATERMELON MUSIC. A recital of chamber music including works by Beethoven, Mozart, and Brahms featuring Mike Ortiz (piano) and Katie Bauer (clarinet). Donations are accepted and all proceeds will benefit local organizations that promote arts education in Davis. 5:30p—7p. Free
