Thousands of costumed riders will roll through Davis for this year’s West Coast Zombie Bike Ride Halloweekend Festival.
This year’s weekend—Friday, Oct. 27 through Sunday, Oct. 29—is jam packed with spooky experiences and 12-miles of family fun at the 5th Annual Zombie Bike Ride.
The Zombie Bike Ride’s mission is to make bicycling available to everyone, including children with special needs. Over the past four years, organizers say they’ve raised and donated more than $22-thousand to NorCal Trykers, an organization that creates custom tricycles for children with special needs.
“Each tricycle costs about $1-thousand to make, and funds from our events have provided 20 children with custom tricycles so far,” organizer Aaron Wedra said in a press release. “These children get to experience the freedom of riding on a bicycle and feeling the wind in their hair for the first time.”
The Zombie Bike Ride is designed to be a self-paced Halloween experience along the 12-mile Davis Bike Loop. Hop in where you please; check zombiebikeparade.com for the map.
Although the Zombie Bike Ride emphasizes biking, all are welcome: pedestrians, scooters, skateboards, strollers, wheelchairs, and power chairs are all welcome. For those who find it difficult to traverse bike lanes, consider driving to Community Park, where the majority of the festivities will take place.
