DAVIS COMMUNITY CHURCH. The Cyrus Trio – Anita Felix, Violin; Jia-mo Chen, cello; and Shinae Kim, piano – perform works of Beethoven, Schumann, Schubert, Shostakovich, Kreisler, and Piazzolla. DCC Live is a new free concert series on 2nd Fridays. 12p—1p. Free
E STREET PLAZA PARKING LOT. Day in Downtown is a community event comprised of artists, makers, vintage clothing vendors, Downtown brick and mortars, and Davis non-profits. Admission is free, and it is family friendly. 10a—4p. Free
LOGOS BOOKS. Attend an artist reception for Larry Williams, a retired art teacher whose work utilizes rich colors and enigmatic shapes. His oil paintings incorporate forms that suggest or tease real life while slipping away into abstraction. Light refreshments will be served, and live music will be provided by The Folk Music Folks. 6p—8p. PENCE GALLERY. Using cradled boards, students will create five collaged pieces that interrelate using artist-made painted & printed papers, additional painting and drawing, & cold wax. This process combines the spontaneity of collage with the interest & beauty of the painted surface. Students will also examine issues around making work in a series & discuss creative ideas for series work. 10a—4p. $360—380
