Classic Hollywood Cinema on Screen at Davis odd Fellows Classic Film Festival

By: Davis Odd Fellows

Classic Hollywood cinema returns to the Odd Fellows Hall for a three-week run starting Sunday, March 31, 2024.

This is a continuation of the “Davis Odd Fellows Classic Film Festival”.  The Odd Fellows began the series in 2014. Everyone is welcome to enjoy these films. The Davis Odd Fellows Hall is located at 415 2 nd St. in downtown Davis.

The Classic Film Festival Committee is delighted to announce our Spring Classic Film Festival line-up, coming up on three successive Sundays; March 31, April 7 & April 14. The films are recommended by Film Critic/Reviewer Derrick Bang and selected by the committee.

The genre for the upcoming Festival is “Movies which are much better than their remakes”. A real mouthful! Derrick will speak before each movie enlightening those attending on the plot, director, actors, and fun things to look for while watching. He’ll do a quick Q&A afterwards.

Doors open at 6:29 p.m. and the films are shown around 7:01 p.m. It’s free of charge (although donations are always welcome to support classic films). Popcorn is provided free of charge. The Odd Fellows no-host bar is open. The musical duo According to Bazooka will play before each film.

March 31: 1955 original version of “The Ladykillers” featuring Alec Guiness and Peter Sellers.
April 7: 1960 classic featuring Rod Taylor, “The Time Machine”.
April 14: 1966 film that made Michael Caine a star, “Alfie”.

Davis Odd Fellows is part of a national and world-wide organization – the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF). Our focus is community support and charitable giving. The Davis Odd Fellows Lodge is the oldest philanthropic organization in the City of Davis, California. Our Lodge was established in Davis in 1870 – just five years after the end of the Civil War – and has been here longer than the City of Davis or the University of California at Davis.
