Davis native and long-distance runner Fiona O’Keeffe will compete in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
O’Keeffe is a graduate of Davis Senior High School. She also graduated from Stanford University, where she was on the track & field team.
In a remarkable feat, O’Keeffe set a US Marathon Trials record in her Marathon debut with a time of 2:22:10. Yes, her first ever marathon qualified her for the Olympics—breaking previously held records.
“Definitely hold onto those dreams,” O’Keeffe said in this story by the Olympics. “You never know what can happen. But also stay patient and have fun with your sport, whatever your sport is. There’s so much time, and when you’re young, it should really be fun. That’s the best way to make it sustainable and give you a shot at long-term success.”
O’Keeffe will compete against the greatest known runners on Earth in Paris on Saturday, August 10 at 11p. Watch live here!
