PENCE GALLERY. Rochelle Mason uses her imagination in painting bold, colorful abstracts of beautifully designed animals by applying swirling, flowing brushstrokes and defining intriguing shapes. Mason loosely bases her Focus on Nature: Beyond Eden series on animals considered unpopular and unappreciated with the purpose of helping people transcend “speciesism.” 11:30a—5p. Free
PENCE GALLERY. Slice celebrates the diversity of expression in our region with an array of sculpture, prints, paintings, and photography created by 36 visual artists. Representing a ‘slice’ of work fresh from the studio produced by new and established artists working in the state, this annual juried exhibit has quickly gained a reputation for displaying innovative and thought-provoking work. 11:30a—5p. PENCE GALLERY. Part of the Pence's Healing Arts Program, this one-time, 90-minute art workshop focuses more broadly on a theme related to depression, anxiety, or major life changes. Through the process of art making, participants will have opportunities for discussion, education, and connecting with peers in a safe and supportive space. PENCE GALLERY. This fun and informative workshop will introduce aspects of mammals and birds to better understand the subjects and improve artistic renderings. Students will study the general anatomy of the body, how to add facial expressions and “personality,” and then practice drawing animals in pencil.
