This award of $4000 supports the creation of new work by emerging artists in California and the opportunity to share that work through an exhibit and an artist talk in January-February 2027 at the Pence. MANETTI SHREM MUSEUM. The Oakland-based artist is inspired by familial and global histories, food, music, and mourning. The exhibition features a reconfigured clock tower sculpture that alludes to market structures in the Eastern Mediterranean Levant region, and new works in ceramic and bronze that speak to familial and cultural ties across time. MANETTI SHREM MUSEUM. This exhibition is a working digitization laboratory and open storage featuring hundreds of works from the Fine Arts Collection, developed and presented in conjunction with UC Davis students in the Fall 2025 Exhibition Practicum course led by Assistant Professor Alexandra Sofroniew.
