Viramundo Performance at Peregrine School South

The band Viramundo will feature this September at Peregrine School South. The concert, part of the Second Saturday Family Concert Series, will feature a wonderful sampling of varied world music.

The performance will present at the south campus of Peregrine School at 2650 Lillard Drive on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 11 am–noon. Gates open 30 minutes prior to the start of the concert. The Second Saturday Family Concert Series is supported in part by a grant from the City of Davis Arts & Cultural Affairs program. Though a $20 donation is suggested, the show is free. Viramundo

Viramundo is a local band featuring Scarlet Cenira (Brazil/US) on vocals; Read Forrest (Chile/US) on guitar, cavaquinho (a small, 4-stringed, Portuguese instrument of the guitar family that would ultimately develop into the ukulele) and vocals; Goran Muhlert (Sweden) on guitar and vocals; and Bill Dakin (US) on upright bass and vocals. Viramundo’s repertoire features the music of Brazil, Cuba, Mozambique, and Cape Verde, as well as original compositions. Genres include Samba, Bossa, Baião, Son, Bolero, MPB, Rhumba, and Reggae among others.

Peregrine School

A 501(c)3 non-profit, founded in 2007, Peregrine School is an independent school that builds children’s capacity to learn, think and do in our ever-changing world. Located in Davis, CA, Peregrine serves children from preschool through 6th grade, drawing students from throughout the Sacramento Valley. Peregrine School educates the whole child, incorporating the latest research on teaching and learning into a child-centered curriculum that integrates hands-on scientific inquiry, critical thinking, wellness, and the arts.
