Discover the healing power of kind touch and attentive listening. Thai Massage is a form of bodywork based on the Buddhist principle of “metta”: loving kindness and compassion for all sentient beings. When we hold and move someone with this intention it communicates a sense of safety that allows their myofascia (muscular and connective tissues) and nervous system to unwind and relax.
Tamara will guide you step-by-step through easy Thai massage techniques, where the “giving” or active partner carefully moves the “receiving” or passive partner providing joint mobilization, acupressure, traction and compression to encourage the release of tension from the myofascia.
No prior experience required. Bring someone you feel comfortable working with in close contact, or pair up with a new friend at the workshop. Please keep in mind that we will be moving on the floor, the giver will be kneeling and in deep lunges. Please bring additional padding if you experience discomfort in your knees. Variations will be available to adjust and accommodate your needs.
Tamara discovered the healing magic of Thai massage through the practice of AcroYoga in 2007. Seeing the value and need to maintain balance in her own body she became more curious about therapeutic and healing practices. This led her to study traditional Thai Massage in Thailand, and continues furthering her training and understanding of this ancient healing art with modern teachers, modern techniques supported by science. She specializes in Dynamic Thai massage, and incorporates her understanding of body biomechanics and anatomy form her 20+ years of experience as yoga student and teacher. She offers Thai massage sessions to clients in Davis California, and loves sharing the joy of this healing art in workshops and courses. She truly believes we can heal each other with kind touch, love and presence.
