Weekends hit hard for families who are food insecure. While students can count on meals during school hours, once the weekend comes around, not knowing when the next meal will come is a reality many students face.Â
Since 2016, STEAC has worked hand in hand with our community of donors and volunteers to help fill the weekend hunger gap in local school children through the Food Packs for Kids Program. What began as a handful of food packs distributed to a Davis pre-k site has expanded to serve hundreds of students in need. Last year, we distributed over 10,000 food packs and expanded our reach to students in Winters, both a great milestone for the program, but the need is still great.
In the upcoming school year, we hope to expand our efforts once again to serve students in Woodland. Join us in supporting our school students in need across Yolo County. With your help, our expansion of the Food Packs for Kids Program can support hundreds of additional students in need. As little as $115 feeds a student for the entire 38-week school year.
