Sing in the New Year with this participatory community sing. Beginners welcome! Sacred Harp — 4-part acapella singing — is also called “shape note” for the syllable shapes fa-sol-la-mi used to learn the tune before singing the words. It began in New England over 200 years ago and stayed lively in the American south. It is now sung nationwide and in other countries. We will sing from The Sacred Harp, 1991 edition (the “Denson book”), and we have some extra copies.
