Lauma Akmene invites you to join her for “Music Conversations” on Sunday, July 18 at 2 pm at Davis Lutheran Church, 317 E 8th St, Davis.
Akmene will play parts of La Nativité du Seigneur (The Birth of the Saviour) by Olivier Messiaen. One of the greatest organ music composers Messiaen in his early and innovative work La Nativité du Seigneur expresses his Catholic faith using his musical language such as modes of limited transposition, rhythmic techniques based on Hindu rhythms from India, and birdsongs.

Lauma Akmene studied organ and church music with Hans-Ola Ericsson at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University in Montreal and at the Luther Academy in Riga. Lauma studied organ and piano performance at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv. Lauma is currently the music director at Davis Lutheran Church.
