Meet and listen to local author, Lisa Montanaro, discuss her novel, Everything we Thought was True, which released in January 2025. Everything We Thought Was True is a story of family and identity, and the corrosive nature of secrets—those we keep from ourselves, from each other, and from society. This heartbreaking but hopeful novel draws on the author’s personal experience as the adult daughter of a once-closeted gay parent to create a story of how a secret forever shapes a family. Everything We Thought Was True won first place in LGBTQ fiction from the International Firebird Book Awards, and honorable mention in general fiction from the Los Angeles Book Festival. Lisa will do a reading from her novel, and be in-conversation with writer and editor, Cerrissa Kim. Copies of the novel will be available for sale and signing.
