Pete Okie Weiss brings his Austin-honed accordion skills to Davis. Now Oakland-based, he’s backed by a rhythm section pulling from soul and honky-tonk scenes. Expect a blend of zydeco that leans into country and soul, designed to keep the floor moving. Pete Okie Weiss (yes, his middle name is Okie) hails from Austin, Texas, where he played keys and accordion with local legends Gumbo Ce Soir, The Gritones, and Leo Rondeau. Pete has assembled a rhythm section featuring members of soul band Emily Day & the Knights and honky-tonkers The Country Business.
The band features: Pete Weiss – leader, accordion, Mike Gubman – electric guitar, John Willhoite -Drums, Pat Gagen – electric drum, vocals, Dave Eagle – percussion, Emily Day – vocal and Andy Lentz – violin.
