In conjunction with the California Clay Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Arts, The Artery proudly presents the work of three of our finest ceramic artists – Emma Luna, Magadalene Crivelli, and Liz Webb.
Emma Luna
Emma will show her Trompe L’oeil ceramic art in three dimensional form. Her sculptures reproduce everyday fabric
objects using the illusionistic possibilities of clay. You will see rows of rolled hand towels, piles of terry clothes, a chaotic heap of laundry — all frozen in shapes that fabric can’t hold. Emma explores a form shared by both clay and fabric: the fold.
Magdalena Crivelli
Magdalena’s work features the female figure, although she has other themes as well in this show. Her current pieces focus on water and swimming. Each piece suggests a story that allows the viewer to connect to her art by filling in their own experiences.
Liz Webb
Liz’s sculptures are small quiet figures — introspection and thoughtful. Set into frames, each piece is in its own space like
an illustration from an old book, perhaps a fairy tale. Books near the figures or in their hands represent stories, history, ideas and
knowledge — lost or found. Liz is drawn to nature and objects that show history by their weathering, tumbling or a lifetime of use.
