Boogie with Soroptimists

Pamela Trokanski and Soroptimist International of Davis will team up for a disco line-dancing class on Tuesday, March 12, to honor Women’s History Month.

The event is from 7 to 8 p.m. at Pamela Trokanski Dance Workshop, 720 Del Rio Place, Davis. Open to anyone, the class is designed to be a fun, lighthearted gathering that’s part of a series of “Gather for Good” events in March.

During the hourlong lesson, Trokanski will lead participants in a line dance to disco music. No experience is necessary. The event is free but donations are gladly accepted to support Soroptimist programs. Soroptimist International of Davis celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, so President Maggie Memmott is marking it with a ’70s theme, “Get your Soroptimist Groove on.”

The club’s other Women’s History Month events include a fundraiser at Creative Hair & Spa, with haircuts from 3-10 p.m. on March 10; A share of proceeds at Sophia’s Thai Kitchen and Bar from 5-9 p.m. on March 19; and more to be announced.

Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment. SI Davis offers cash Live Your Dream Awards to female heads of household seeking education or training, and assists King High students through its Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls program. It also funds high school scholarships, and grants to nonprofits that align with the Soroptimist mission.
