BanjerDan Banjo Bluegrass Jamming Workshop @ The Melon Ball

BanjerDan (Dan Mazer) is a banjo player/multi-instrumentalist based in Santa Cruz, CA. His music is an Americana mix, rooted in straight-ahead Bluegrass and branching out to include folk, country, blues, oldies, and other styles.
Dan started playing Scruggs-style banjo in 1974, during the Washington, DC area’s heyday as a hotbed of bluegrass music, earned a B.A. in Music Theory from George Washington University in 1984, and picked up some skills on acoustic guitar, mandolin, and dobro along the way. Since then, the banjo has taken Dan all across the U.S. and overseas, as a solo artist, as a member of bands, and in theatrical productions and orchestral performances. Some of the more notable venues include Opryland, USA, the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, the High Sierra Music Festival, the National Cherry Blossom Festival, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. In addition, Dan was honored to be selected by the U.S. State Department to headline performances in Israel and Panama.
