Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra

With special guests the Villalobos Brothers and the Conga Patria Son Jarocho Collective.

Each year since 2008, around Memorial Day, a transnational jam session happens on both sides of the wall at the Tijuana-San Diego border. This Fandango Fronterizo Festival inspired Grammy-winning musician and composer Arturo O’Farrill to launch a three-part project (album, book, and film) under the title Fandango at the Wall to explore the close connections between Mexico and the United States.

For this concert, O’Farrill and his special guests tear down musical walls, exploring jazz, classical, Broadway, hip hop, and son jarocho.

This event is free for all UC Davis students. Purchase a student ticket and plan to show a UC Davis student ID at the door.

Cada año desde 2008, cerca del Día de Conmemoración de los Caídos, se produce una sesión de jam transnacional en ambos lados de la frontera Tijuana-San Diego. Este festival Fandango Fronterizo inspiró al músico y compositor Arturo O’Farrill, ganador de los premios Grammy, a lanzar un proyecto de tres partes (álbum, libro, y película) con el título Fandango at the Wall para explorar las estrechas relaciones entre México y los Estados Unidos.

Para este concierto, O’Farrill y sus invitados especiales rompen barreras musicales, explorando el jazz, la música clásica, el estilo Broadway, el hip hop, y el son jarocho.

Este evento es gratis para los estudiantes de UC Davis. Compre un boleto estudiantil y prepárese presentar su identificación universitario a la entrada.
