Slice: A Juried Exhibit of Regional Art | Jul. 11 – Aug. 17
Marking its 13th year, the Pence’s annual Slice exhibit celebrates the diversity of expression in our region with an array of sculpture, prints, paintings, and photography created by 36 visual artists. This year’s juror is Susie Kantor, Associate Curator & Exhibition Department Head at the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art at UC Davis. Awards will be announced at 8 PM.
Focus on Nature: Beyond Eden by Rochelle Mason | Jul. 11 – Aug. 17
Rochelle Mason uses her imagination in painting bold, colorful abstracts of beautifully designed animals by applying swirling, flowing brushstrokes and defining intriguing shapes. Mason loosely bases this series on animals considered unpopular and unappreciated with the purpose of helping people transcend “speciesism.”
Exhibit It! A Community Art Exhibit | Jul. 3 – Aug. 17
The Pence’s annual non-juried community art show, Exhibit It!, highlights the talent of our community’s artists. View 50 wonderful artworks in different media, and vote for your favorite artist to win the Public Choice award (announced at the conclusion of the exhibit). The Curator’s Choice award will be announced during the reception at 7:30 PM.
Emma Ware: Berryessa Summer | Jul. 5 – Aug. 31
An artist and atmospheric science PhD student, Emma Ware finds inspiration in the Central Valley landscapes, especially the golden hills and purple shadows of the California summers. Much of her work focuses on scenes from in and around Davis. Visitors can view her paintings along the stairway.
