Downtown Davis Announces a Stimulus Program

Downtown Davis, CA

Update 5/8: The Davis Downtown Business Association (DDBA) and the Greiner Heating, Air & Solar is REOPENING its Gifting Stimulus Program on Friday, May 8th @ 3:00pm!

Our program aims to infuse an ADDITIONAL $50,000 into downtown Davis businesses (the first round reached over $130,000). As up to $25,000 of gift cards/certificates are purchased through the program, an additional $25,000 will be donated as stimulus money to our downtown businesses. This campaign is designed to support businesses right now and in real time during shelter in place, and our downtown needs you now more than ever!

You can feel twice as good about your purchase because it goes twice as far with the businesses you love!

“This campaign is designed to support businesses right now and in real time during the shelter in place,” said Brett Maresca, Executive Director, Davis Downtown. “Downtown Davis businesses need you now more than ever.”

“This new program infuses cash into businesses immediately and will help our downtown to survive during this unprecedented time,” said Lucas Frerichs, Davis City Councilmember. “Buying these gift cards that have a match is one of a variety of ways to support our downtown merchants, and I’m confident that our community will continue to step up in this time of need.”

Here’s how you can help:

  • Visit the DDBA website portal at: www.davisdowntown.com/stimulus-program where you will choose the business (or businesses) that you want to support and make the purchase of gift cards/certificates. The certificate/card will be sent to buyers by the business.
  • Businesses will receive the money for gift card/certificate purchase plus a match, dollar for dollar, as stimulus money. For example, if you purchase a $100 gift card for your favorite downtown business, you will receive the $100 gift card and the business will receive $200 from the DDBA (the $100 gift card purchase value + $100 stimulus donation match).
  • IMPORTANT: Gift cards/certificates MUST be purchased directly through the DDBA website portal for the respective businesses to receive the matching donation.

All businesses within the Downtown Business Improvement District (DBID) are members of the DDBA and are eligible to participate in the Gifting Stimulus Program with a cap of $1,000 stimulus funds per business. If a business reached its cap during the first round of matching, they are not eligible for the second round.
