Acme Theatre Company 

 Put on a show! In this 2-week camp, each student will receive a speaking role in a short play and be guided through the entire theatrical process from auditioning to performance. Work together on building confidence and team-work skills, vocal projection, line memorization, physical acting skills and explore basic costuming & set construction. Please note: final class session will be Friday, June 30 from 1:30pm – 7pm, including a provided dinner and our culminating performance at 7pm!

The City of Davis is offering a full summer of recreation activities and programs. Check out this season’s Rec Guide. They have some brand new programming and are bringing back the classics too! Registration opens Wednesday, March 8 at 7a for Camp Putah, Trekkers, Horse Camp, and Private Swim Lessons (June 19-July 20). Registration opens Wednesday, March 22 at 7a for all other camps and programs as well as Group Swim Lessons (June 19-July 20). Look in the official rec guide for specifics like:

DARTS Day Camp

  • Days/times TBA: Summerdarts/Teendarts/Minidarts will be offered this summer June 12-August 5.
  • Summerdarts is a summer swim team for children ages 6 through teens.  Swim practices emphasize the introduction and improvement of stroke skills, water fitness, water games, and introduction to competition in a fun atmosphere.  Practices are offered three days per week with no mandatory attendance requirements. Practices are geared for swimmers of all ability levels, from novice to experienced. Summerdart swimmers must be age six by 6/1/23 and must meet minimum skills. 
  • Minidarts: Younger swimmers ages 4–7 can join our Minidarts program. 30-minute sessions are held at Community Pool twice weekly. Coaches work with children in small groups, teaching them swim skills and the four swim strokes, engage them in fun swim games, and introduce them to swim team and swim meets. Minidart swimmers must be age four by 9/1/23.
  • Teendarts: This practice is for swimmers ages 11–15.  The focus is on fitness and fun as well as teaching and improving stroke technique. Swimmers should be able to comfortably swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke comfortably to join this group. Practices are offered three times weekly with no mandatory practice requirements.

Davis Arts Center

—Registration March 1, 12p

All Day Summer Arts Campers will experience quality art activities guided by paid teaching artists and camp counselors. Campers will have the opportunity to explore a large range in materials including ceramics, drawing, painting, fiber arts, and collage! All art materials will be provided—campers only need to bring themselves, clothing they don’t mind getting messy, and snacks/lunch. The activities will be fun and will encourage campers to explore the materials and develop their art skills. Art activities will take place both indoors and outdoors (smoke and temperature permitting) with opportunities for snack and lunch breaks.

The Davis Fencing Academy Summer Camps run 9-3 Mon-Fri. Participants in the Fencing Camps will learn beginning and intermediate fencing actions and tactics, watch videos of high level competition and participate in fencing and cross training activities. Pentathlon participants will learn the disciplines of the Olympic sport of modern pentathlon: fencing, running and laser marksmanship.

Davis Language Academy

Davis Tennis Academy Summer Camps—Registration OPEN

DTA Summer Camp is a great way for players ages 5-12 , from beginners too intermediates to enjoy their summer and improve their tennis game. Summer Camp students will work hard, make new friends, and have lots of fun.

Camps will combine expert instruction – drills to improve tennis skills and overall fitness, with the opportunity to grow and bond with their peer group through fun games and activities.

The Summer Camps will be offered at the Davis High School Tennis Complex. This will be the 26th consecutive year that Director of Tennis, Dale Hersch, has held his Summer Camps at the Complex. Bringing in over 300 juniors each year for the past 16 years, the Davis Tennis Academy’s week long Summer Camps are one of the largest tennis camps in the region.

    • WEEK 3 (July 17th – 21st) Jewelry Making: Join Instructor Shai for a week of Jewelry making. We will learn how to create bracelets, add beads, manipulate wire, and shape and decorate copper using traditional jewelry tools. Come use your creativity and imagination!
    • WEEK 4 (July 24th – 28th) Landscape Painting: Over the course of the week, children will create a detailed landscape painting on canvas using acrylic paints. Maestra Marta will teach students what brushes and types of paints are used to achieve different effects. At the end of the week, each child will have their own masterpiece to keep.

In each week, campers entering grades 4 through 8 will discover and develop science, math, engineering, and programming skills in a hands-on, one-week program. Each camp will take students through several unique challenges, where students build and program their very own VEQ IQ robot all while collaborating with their peers and getting expert guidance from trained counselors. At the end of the week, campers will have a chance to show off their robots in a friendly competition!

Additionally, this year we are excited to announce our newest RoboCamp program: indi Sphero, targeted specifically towards Grades K-3! During this week, campers will develop some of their first STEM skills in a hands-on, one-week program. Each session will run for 3 hours, from 9 AM to 12 PM or from 1 PM to 4 PM. Over the course of a session, campers will learn how to use a small “indi Sphero” robot, which is controlled by colored tiles placed on the ground. Campers will work in pairs to complete game-like tasks with these robots, all while learning and having fun with peers. Over the course of the week, campers will also participate in fun science experiments, and create their own game for other campers to try to complete at the end of the week!

The camps will be held at one of the schools in Davis, with the specific campus to be announced in late March or early April. However, for families who would prefer to attend a virtual camp this year, On-Lime Week (July 10 – 14) will be held entirely on Zoom, following a similar format to prior years where we ran online camps.

Kaiju Bros Jiujitsu Academy

Kaiju BJJ Academy is the premier jiujitsu academy in Davis and our summer camps are held to the same high standards as our daily classes. We offer week long summer day camps with drop off from 8-915a and pick up from 245-315p. Everyday includes a physical workout and introduction to jiujitsu lesson that teaches anti-bullying techniques and work on basic standing takedowns from a defensive perspective. This workout is in addition to traditional summer camp indoor and outdoor activities like Nerf gun battles, Mario Kart grand Prix, camp t-shirt tie dye, indoor games, outdoor play, picnic in the park, and various field trips. Rock Band University Summer Rock Band Camp—Accepting Applications Now

Join a rock band this Summer! Meet and play with fellow musicians in our week long music camp. Create a setlist with your band, learn to play songs that you like together, practice in a fully equipped rehearsal studio, and finish off the week with your own concert in downtown Davis.

Play songs that you like, meet fellow musicians, strengthen your musical timing & techniques, learn how to communicate in a band setting, and experience playing to an audience.

  • Tuition: $225 / camp

SKILL LEVEL:
Musicians that participate in Summer Rock Band Camp range from Beginner to Advanced players and will be matched accordingly (also based on week availability). Beginners must know how to play basic chords or basic beats and have some experience in keeping time. Absolute Beginner Musicians are advised to take Private Music Lessons before enrolling in Summer Camp.

On the application, please check all of your available dates for the best matching of musicians. Camp dates and payment information will be emailed to you upon acceptance. Cancellation Policy: Please note that our camp program is very customized, tricky to schedule, and takes months of planning. Cancellations after you have been confirmed for a camp will incur a $40 cancellation fee. Thank you for understanding!

Rocknasium Summer Camps–Registration OPEN

Rocknasium hosts a fun filled Summer Camp for kids ages 6 to 12. Our summer camp program gives kids a chance to have an AWESOME week of climbing and related fun in an exciting setting with cool challenges and a group of other fun kids! 1:5 Staff to Climber ratio. All equipment is included.

  • $150/camp week for a half-day; $300/camp week for a full-day. **Camps cannot be sold per day.
  • Ages 6-12 (Top-rope belaying for campers ages 10 and older)
  • Camps run Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday (skipping Thursday). Morning camp runs from 9a-12p, and afternoon from 1p-4p. Full day campers will have a staff supervised lunch from 12p-1p.

Transatlantic Soccer Camp—Registration OPEN

Skills Camp (5-11 year olds)
This camp is perfect for all players who are looking to learn and have fun. A good balance of fun games and drills will keep the players focused, practicing and learning all the time. With our experienced European coaches, you won’t be disappointed with the level of coaching and fun you will have. You won’t want your week to end! When you arrive at Camp for the first time, you will sign in and start right away in a group warm-up. After the warm-up, you will be put into a group and given a coach for the week. The group you will go into will be based on age (ie 5 &6 yrs old together and so on) and then ability. Coaches may move someone to a different group to give them a better challenge through the week to always make sure they are learning at their own ability level and being challenged.

Advanced Player Development Camp (9 – 15 years old with experience)
Do you think you have what it takes for our advanced player development camp? This camp is structured towards players aged 10 and above who have playing experience, an established skills base and looking for a more challenging program . This camp is all about improving your technical ability and knowledge of the game. A big part of this camp is working on positioning, decision making, applying skills at the right times and allowing players to learn through playing the game.

UCD offers a wide variety of summer camps and strives to have something in every camper’s wheelhouse. Programs are broken up into four groups to better assist you and your camper(s) in finding exactly what you’re looking for! Aggie camps are closest to the traditional day-camp experience, Craft camps primarily take place in the amazing on-campus Craft Center, the Specialty camps can cover everything from animals to sports and theater. Lastly, Partner camps allow them to work with brilliant members of the UC Davis community to put forward a camp experience that is both fun and educational! *Disclaimer from UCD: We will not be offering a Kinder Camp this year.   • Camps will be offered in 1-week and/or 2-week sessions. The camp day will run from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. Additionally, early drop-off and extended day programs are available.
  • Note: Registration times will be staggered this year: A Camps 10a; B Camps 11a; C Camps 12p; Teens 12p; and Extended day 1p.

UC Davis Men’s Basketball Youth Camp—Registration info is available on the website (update coming)

The UC Davis Men’s Basketball Youth Camp focuses on providing young athletes with skill training to improve the offensive aspect of their personal game. Their instruction emphasizes basketball fundamentals including shooting skills, ball handling, passing, footwork, shot selection, rebounding, and having the right mental approach. Campers will learn how to overcome common shooting errors while having fun in live competitions designed to help them successfully apply the techniques they learn during drills. In addition, campers will leave with a good understanding of offensive fundamentals and a variety of drills they can perform at home that are designed to enhance personal basketball potential. The camp utilizes the skills of UC Davis student-athletes and coaches to help each and every camper succeed!

BLUE LEVEL:

  • Ages: Open to all 8-14 years old
  • Time: Full Day Camp, 9am-4pm
  • Blue Level Description: The Blue Camp will focus on more advanced basketball skills related to this age group. Pivoting, shooting technique and defense are among the numerous skills incorporated throughout this camp. The camp consists of station work, demonstrations, and of course camp competitions and games to harness these skills. In addition, this camp positions kids to work in a team setting and provides an opportunity for social interaction and character building.
  • Price: $329 includes lunch at the UCD Dining Hall *Optional $80 Friday Add-On: The UC Davis Basketball Camp will provide the option to extend the camp through Friday for $80. This Friday add-on is for Blue Level participants (ages 8-14) only. It will run the same time (9-4pm) and will be held in Hickey Gym. Activities included will be indoor and outdoor. Lunch is provided. Limited to 60 participants. SIBLING DISCOUNT: $15 off second and subsequent registration

GOLD LEVEL:

  • Ages:  Open to all 4-7 years old
  • Time: Half-Day Camp, 9am-12pm
  • Campers will not be expected to bring an entire lunch, but snacks and drinks are encouraged. Gold Level Description: The Gold Camp will focus on introductory skills for boys and girls. These include passing drills and races, lay-up lines and competitions, as well as basketball centered games and other activities. Parents are welcome to stay for the entire three-hour session if they choose. We will begin each morning at 9am and begin our cool down at 11:50am. Snacks and drinks are encouraged.
  • Price: $147. SIBLING DISCOUNT: $15 off second and subsequent registration

UC Davis Volleyball Camp—Registration OPEN

AGGIE ACES SUMMER CAMP 2023: This camp is open to any and all athletes ages 7-14 and 2nd – 8th grade. This camp is geared towards younger players. If you are a skilled and experienced player looking for reps prior to tryouts, this camp may not be a good fit. Our Aggie Aces Summer Camp will focus on the fundamental skills of volleyball. We will include plenty of skill-based drills, team play and a variety of non-volleyball games in a team environment. Coaches make every attempt to place athletes into age/skill-appropriate groups. Held in Hickey Gym.

  • Cost: $315 (Camp t-shirt is included in camp registration fee. Meals are not provided.)
  • June 19-22, 2023 (Check-in June 19, 8:30 am, camp runs 9:00 am – 4:00 pm daily
  • Ages: 7–14 and 2nd–8th grade

Velocity Island–Registration OPEN

2023 Summer Adventure Camp: Activities at our camp include swimming, stretching, terminology of the sport, paddle boarding, soccer, and use of our aqua park. All campers receive Camp Velocity t-shirt and stickers. All Necessary gear is included: a basic/slider wakeboard, kneeboard , helmet, and USCG approved lifejacket. Optional Lunch Available.

  • $399/week. Sibling discount of 5% off each additional camper family. *Lunch can be included for additional fee $60.00 per child for the week.
  • Ages 7–16 for Adventure Camp. Waiver required. Swim test required for under 42″.
  • Monday through Friday, 8:30a – 12pNoon.  Optional lunch 12p to 12:30p. Camps begin June 12.
