39th Annual California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Art
Join us at the John Natsoulas Gallery in Davis for the perennially favorite California Conference
for the Advancement of Ceramic Art (CCACA). This year’s conference will include over 50
student exhibitions and will feature presenters: Andy Ruble, Janis Mars Wunderlich, Deborah
Masuoka, Janina Myronova, Arthur Gonzalez, and Mark Bulwinkle.
The 39th annual CCACA is regarded as the best international festival and conference for
students at every level of ceramic education, and it features the largest exhibition of works by
student ceramicists in the world. These up-and-coming artists are afforded the opportunity to
showcase their recent achievements, and these exhibitions often represent the first time that
many of them have ever publicly shown their work. This year’s conference will feature work by
students from 1 elementary school, 9 high schools, 38 colleges and universities, and 7 art centers,
all located within one centralized hub at the Davis Commons. Students will converge on Davis
from as far north as Humboldt and as far south as San Diego, and also from New Mexico and
Oregon, to exhibit their work. All exhibitions are free! They will be open for viewing from 10am
to 9pm on Friday, April 24 and from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, April 25. These student shows
will juxtapose with the beloved 30 Ceramic Sculptors exhibition at the John Natsoulas Gallery
on view from April 1 to May 16, featuring the work of established, professional artists.
The accompanying world-class demonstrations and lectures, taking place over the course of
Friday and Saturday will honor the historic legacy at Davis of advancing the ceramic arts. The
outstanding featured artists from across the country will provide insights into their renown
techniques and careers. Registration is now open. Student tickets are $160 and adult tickets are
$175. Prices will increase beginning on April 1, so register soon!
