Davis Music Fest Youth Band Contest

DMF opens a slot at their festival for one youth band from Davis.

Performing live on stage is the dream of so many young musicians. For one group in Davis that dream will be realized this summer at the Davis Music Fest.

The Davis Music Fest is hosted by the Davis Live Music Collective, a non-profit, volunteer organization designed to bring high quality, diverse concerts to Davis.

Kyle Monhollen is the co-founder of the DLMC and an art teacher at Davis Senior High School. Since the first Davis Music Fest in 2011, the Collective has donated more than $25-thousand to support arts and music education in Davis Public Schools; those early years, he said, are just so important.

“The overwhelming majority of performers we’ve worked with over the years credit their own introduction to music in public schools as an important formative experience in choosing music as a career,” organizer Kyle Monhollen told The Dirt. “Our hope is to continue this right here at home.”

The winner of the 2023 Youth Band Contest will take the stage for a paid 30-minute set as bonafide performers. The winner also gets media promotion and sees their band’s name on festival merch.

Solo artists and bands with at least one member who is currently a student in good standing at a DJUSD school are encouraged to enter.

Applications are due April 1. Click here for more details.
