5th Grade Art Kits Arrive!
The Davis Arts Center and the Davis School Arts Foundation (DSAF) are giving all fifth graders in DJUSD the opportunity to discover their inner artist with a set of take-home guided art projects. Every 5th grade student and teacher received an art kit with all of the supplies and instructions for at-home art projects. The kits were included in the regularly scheduled school materials pickup at all Davis Joint Unified School District sites during the month of March.
Discover Your Inner Artist is a set of art projects that lead students to create a self-portrait. The exercises were developed based on California State Arts Standards and can be used in a variety of ways:
· Independently: Let the students work on their own though the exercises in the kit.
· As worksheets: There are 14 pages that can be used as standalone worksheets.
· Small Projects: The kit includes 6 discrete projects that can be done in less than 1 hr.Big Projects: Guide the students through a project that has multiple parts or use the small projects as a basis for a final piece of work.
· In collaboration with other subjects: Use the materials for projects in science, social studies or history.
Davis School Arts Foundation has been supporting arts education in Davis schools for close to 40 years because we believe that arts and cultural education is crucial to the development of all children. In this unique year, DSAF partnered with the Davis Arts Center to give students an opportunity to explore their creativity while distance learning, or during their hybrid school day.
