Sept. 3, 2025 – The City of Davis invites youth of all ages to join Clara and the Nutcracker Prince on their journey to the Land of Sweets in the 48th production of the Davis Children’s Nutcracker. Applications to be a part of the production will be open from Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 9 a.m. to Friday, Sept. 19, at 4 p.m. Help bring this story to life by joining this special Davis tradition!
The cast will be limited to 250 children with a certain number of parts allocated to each age group. Children must be six years old by Nov. 12, 2025, to apply. Children aged 10 to 12 years old have the opportunity to audition for lead roles. Names are drawn by lottery and applications must be submitted online.
All rehearsals will be held at the Veterans Memorial Center and Theatre. All cast members must be available for rehearsals from Nov. 12 – Dec. 4, Monday through Friday, except Nov. 24–27. Rehearsals will then continue from Dec. 8-13, Monday through Saturday. Performances will be held Dec. 13-14 during the day.

The Davis Children’s Nutcracker would be impossible to produce without the support of staff and volunteers. Those interested in volunteering must complete a City of Davis Volunteer Interest Form at www.cityofdavis.org/volunteer by Oct. 10. Individuals interested in work as Nutcracker Recreation Leaders may apply online through www.governmentjobs.com/careers/davis. Job applications will be accepted until filled.
