DAVIS CITY MANAGER NAMES ALBERTO PRECIADO AS FINANCE DIRECTOR

Jan. 21, 2026 – The City of Davis announced today that City Manager Daryel Dunston has named Alberto Preciado to the role of Finance Director effective February 2, 2026.

The Finance Director is responsible for providing administrative direction and oversight for all functions and activities of the City’s Finance Department including financial planning, cash and asset management, debt management, revenue administration and collection, purchasing and payroll.

“We are thrilled to welcome Alberto to the team,” said City Manager Daryel Dunston. “His collaborative and approachable leadership style, coupled with his deep technical expertise and robust accounting and budgeting experience will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen the City’s fiscal position.”

Preciado has more than 18 years of experience working in the government finance sector, including most recently as the Finance & Budget Manager for the City of Citrus Heights, where he was responsible for all aspects of accounting and financial reporting, including the year-end close and audit processes, implementation of accounting standards, financial modeling, support for development of the biennial budget and implementation of the financial module for a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system which led to process improvements impacting all of the city’s departments. In addition, Preciado has worked for the Citrus Heights Water District as an accounting manager, the City of Tustin as a Senior Accountant and as an independent government auditor. Preciado is an active member of the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) where he is currently serving on the Board of Directors, and he has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career.

“I am excited and grateful to be joining Team Davis,” Preciado said. “The City strives to deliver high-quality services to the Davis community, and I look forward to working with the team to advance this goal.”

Preciado earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from San Diego State University and a master’s in business administration from Washington State University. Preciado enjoys learning new languages (currently French), traveling and trying new restaurants with his wife, Julia, and their two children.
