More than 5,000 join Davis Pride Celebration.
More than 5-thousand LGBTQ+ members and supporters packed into Central Park last weekend, making the 2023 Davis Pride Festival the largest one to date.
The community-focused festival, hosted by the Davis Phoenix Coalition, included a skate night, fun run, music festival, drag queens, and more vendors than Central Park has seen in quite a while. This marked the group’s ninth Pride Festival.
Security was in full force, amid safety concerns after last month’s violent stabbings.
Organizers say a handful of quiet protestors did attend the drag show and take video. The crowd formed a wall in front of the protestors, and they eventually left before displaying their signs and banners.

Davis Pride events are coordinated on a volunteer basis by the Davis Phoenix Coalition, a nonprofit that works to foster diversity, eliminate intolerance, prevent hate-motivated violence, and support LGBTQ+ youths in Davis and surrounding communities. Proceeds from Davis Pride events support the coalition’s anti-racism and anti-bullying campaigns, help LGBTQ+ youth and their families, and provide outreach with area police departments, churches and schools.
