Beyond Basics: Wheel Throwing Skills

In this throwing skills workshop, we approach throwing as a collection of practicable, adaptable skills rather than a single fixed technique. The goal of the workshop is to help you move past challenges in your throwing practice while introducing new skills that increase both speed and accuracy at the wheel.

Students will leave the workshop with a stronger understanding of:

Observation and perception as they relate to successful throwing
Techniques for throwing larger forms
Effective tool selection and use
Repair and recovery strategies during the throwing process
Related handbuilding skills that support wheel work
…and more based on the needs and interests of the class!
All materials will be provided
Time included for lunch and breaks
