Classic film fest brings 1970s murder mysteries to Davis

By: The Dirt

Classic Hollywood intrigue is back in Davis this fall.

The Davis Odd Fellows, a classic in its own right, will host a three-week Classic Film Festival beginning the first Sunday of November featuring a lineup of 1970s murder mysteries handpicked by local film critic Derrick Bang.

Each screening will open with insights from Bang, who will share behind-the-scenes trivia, directorial details, and themes to watch for. A short Q&A will follow each film.

The festival kicks off with The Last of Sheila (1973) on November 2, followed by Chinatown (1974) on November 9, and concludes with Murder on the Orient Express (1974) November 16.

Admission and popcorn are free, and the Odd Fellows bar will be open for beer, wine, and soft drinks. Doors open at 6:29p, with films starting around 7:01p. Donations are welcome to support future screenings.

The Davis Odd Fellows Hall is located at 415 Second Street in downtown Davis. Learn more about the organization’s community programs at davislodge.org.
