International House Davis invites the community to Kodama: Echoes of Japan, a vibrant celebration of Japanese music and dance, on Monday, July 14th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at International House Davis, 10 College Park.
This special, family-friendly evening features a rare U.S. performance by Peaceful Forest, led by celebrated taiko artist and lion dancer Takumi Kato and his three young sons. Hailing from Gifu Prefecture, Japan, Peaceful Forest is touring the United States with a mission to complete 1,000 performances dedicated to spreading peace and cross-cultural understanding through music.
The event will also highlight performances by talented local artists:
● Koyasan Spirit of Children Taiko – showcasing the power and joy of taiko drumming ● Naoko – Davis-based master of koto and shamisen
● Rie – Sacramento-based dancer blending traditional and contemporary Japanese dance
Audiences of all ages are invited to enjoy this immersive evening of cultural connection, where music and dance tell stories of unity, family, and peace.
