Rochelle Mason uses her imagination in painting bold, colorful abstracts of beautifully designed animals by applying swirling, flowing brushstrokes and defining intriguing shapes. Mason loosely bases her Focus on Nature: Beyond Eden series on animals considered unpopular and unappreciated with the purpose of helping people transcend “speciesism.” Mason’s long artistic career has been all about animals: those that are loved, those that are little-known, and those that are overlooked. Some of Rochelle’s Focus on Nature: Wildcats of the World paintings will also be featured.
Drawing Animals with Rochelle Mason Workshop
Saturday, July 26, 10 AM – 2:30 PM

This fun and informative workshop with Rochelle Mason will introduce aspects of mammals and birds to better understand the subjects and improve artistic renderings. Students will first study the general anatomy of the body, as well as how to add facial expressions and personality. After this, students will practice drawing animals in pencil, both in general and in detail, with individual attention given to each student. This workshop is open to artists ages 16+ who have some artistic experience. Register at pencegallery.org.
