$10K Grant opportunity for one local musician or band

By: The Dirt

The Davis Independent Music Initiative—lovingly known as DIMI—is offering a once in a lifetime opportunity for one local musician or band.

DIMI is an emerging arts organization in Davis aimed at helping musicians better and further their artistic careers. The group supports local artists with resources and a platform to grow, connecting them with a potential audience.

Thanks to a grant from the the City of Davis Arts & Cultural Affairs Fund, they’ve created a pilot program aimed at supporting the creation of a new original musical album or work.

The band or musician must live in Davis and will write, record, and present their new original work for the community, and the world, to appreciate.

DIMI has up to $10,000 to support the winning artist.

Projects that include marginalized voices or support cultural and social equity are strongly encouraged to apply.

A committee consisting of members of the Davis community including musicians, music lovers, and business owners/employees that benefit from a thriving local music scene will evaluate all applications. Applicants may be required to interview.

Requirements:

â—Ź The applicant must live or have one band member living in Davis.

â—Ź Preference given to emerging bands/musicians, but those musicians must demonstrate an ability to complete the project and produce a body of work that would have an audience.

â—Ź Applicants must submit digital links to three examples of their original musical work (phone quality recordings are acceptable, videos are encouraged).

â—Ź Applicants must attempt in good faith to create a proposed budget for their project.

The application deadline is October 17, 2025 at 5p. Click here to apply!
