DESCRIPTION:Art in Action: Celebration Stations Part 1\nSunday\, February 8\, 1-3 PM\n$5 Members\, $10 Non-Members (per person\, all materials included)\nTreasure the Pence with us by constructing your very own treasure box! Learn how to build an incredible treasure chest using origami paper\, decorative ribbons\, and more. Also make art with your community by joining us for a collaborative weaving project that includes yarn\, a rug canvas\, pom poms\, and other fiber materials. \nHow it works:\nArt in Action engages kids in art projects that are fun\, creative\, and collaborative with their family members. This is a drop-in program for ages 5-12. No registration in advance is required\, but space and supplies are limited to the first 25 participants and are available on a first come\, first served basis. When you arrive\, pay with cash or card at the front desk. A parent or adult caregiver is required to stay\, but only has to pay for the project for themselves if they are also doing art. DESCRIPTION:Pence Gallery Emerging Artist Award 2026\nOpen now at www.callforentry.org\nDeadline: April 9\, 2026 \nThe Pence Gallery Emerging Artist Award 2026 is now open for applications via www.callforentry.org. This award supports the creation of new work by emerging artists in California and the opportunity to share that work through an exhibit and an artist talk in January-February 2027 at the Pence. \nArtists must use the award of $4000 to further their work in a significant direction\, and may work in any medium\, except for video or sound art. ‘Emerging’ is defined as an artist early in their art career\, who has limited experience exhibiting\, but not an extensive solo exhibit history. The artist’s submitted work must be of high caliber\, original\, and completed within the past five years. \nApplications must include a resume\, an artist statement\, and 10-15 digital images of current work\, by 9 PM PST on April 9\, 2026. Williams’ layered mixed-media paintings incorporate roots\, branches\, and floral subjects. She builds and excavates her surfaces with paints\, oil sticks\, ink\, pencil and collage\, revealing traces like memory. Steinert-Foley’s sculptures give tactile\, three-dimensional form to themes fundamental to the human endeavor.
