SUMMARY:Color / Texture / Pattern at Gallery 625
DESCRIPTION:Gallery 625’s current exhibition is an appreciation of color\, texture\, and pattern explored through photography. Featuring 21 Northern California artists and over 50 artworks\, Color / Texture / Pattern highlights a wide range of perspectives\, styles\, and subject matter. \nHosted by YoloArts in partnership with the Woodland Camera Forum\, this photography exhibition aligns with Photography Month Sacramento 2026\, which will take place in April. Photography Month is a region-wide celebration of the photographic arts reaching across communities and bringing people together. \nPhotography Month Sacramento remarks\, “When we take and share photographs we are creating a common visual history and visual language. Exhibitions of photographic art hold a mirror up to society\, reflecting its interests and concerns while simultaneously confronting its ideologies and preconceptions. \nPhotography Month helps create opportunities for photographic artists by creating more physical spaces dedicated to the appreciation of the photographic arts and to create opportunities for vital discussions about images and ideas\, to bring diverse communities together in a shared space\, and to generate income for the local economy.” \nGallery 625 will hold a reception for Color / Texture / Pattern on Friday\, April 3\, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. with live music provided by Harold Sexton and light refreshments. At 6:15 p.m. award winners will be announced. The “Best in Show” award\, sponsored by Blue Wing Gallery\, will be presented by Al Eby. The “Second Prize” award\, sponsored by the Woodland Camera Forum\, will be presented by Susan Lord Bovey. \nThe “People’s Choice” award\, sponsored by YoloArts\, will open for voting on March 19 and close on April 15. The award winner will be announced via Social Media on April 17. SUMMARY:The Abstract Language of Ceramics
DESCRIPTION:The Abstract Language of Ceramics\nExhibit: April 10 – June 3\, 2026\nReception: April 10\, 6-9 PM (Free) \nThe Abstract Language of Ceramics features the work of ceramic artists Karyn Gabriel\, Mark Goudy\, Kris Marubayashi\, Liza Riddle\, and Laura Van Duren. Together\, these artists create striking geometric and biomorphic forms that underline their pursuit of simple forms inspired by nature. Karyn Gabriel’s woven vessels and hangings merge the idea of fiber and weaving with the flexible nature of clay. Goudy’s current sculptures are modeled on mathematical equations\, which he adapts on the computer\, using new technology to design and create molded forms. Kris Marubayashi’s vessels have a sense of movement and balance\, and employ natural textures and an earth-toned palette. Liza Riddle’s modified cubes\, hanging plinths\, and circles use color sparingly to emphasize the beauty of cracks that form while drying. Laura Van Duren shows a playful incorporation of found objects\, textiles\, and clay\, closely resembling the corporal reality of human interaction. \nThis exhibit is sponsored by Hollie Malamud & Chris Kelsch\, and Helen McClosky\, in memory of ceramicist Shelly Simon. \nImage:\nLaura Van Duren\, “Curl”\nKris Marubayashi\, Untitled\nKaryn Gabriel\, “Aspen Brick”\nMark Goudy\, “Flux Series”\nLiza Riddle\, Untitled

SUMMARY:More Great Songs from Unfortunate Musicals
DESCRIPTION:April 10\, noon – 1pm; Live@DCC Free Noon Concert Series: “MORE Great Songs from Unfortunate Musicals” at the Davis Community Church\, 4th and “C” Streets\, Davis. \nSome of the best (and best-loved) songs of the Great American Songbook have come from flop musicals—and some of the best songwriters in the business. \nNow we’re back with more great tunes for your enjoyment. One song from a big-budget flop was a late-career smash for Frank Sinatra. Another went through two movies and three lyric changes before emerging as a hit on its own. Still another began life in a failed Broadway show\, then gained lasting fame when it was inserted into an iconic World War II Hollywood classic. \nCapRadio’s Stephen Peithman (“Connections”) provides the inside stories\, while Lenore Sebastian and Joe Alkire deliver the vocals\, accompanied by LuAnn Higgs. (Stephen sings a bit\, too.) \nIt’s music to brighten your spirits—and make your day. \n

SUMMARY:2nd Friday ArtAbout reception: Jerri Chamberlain
DESCRIPTION:Blossoms To Remember\nJerri Chamberlain\nwatercolor\nApril 1 to April 25\n2nd Friday ArtAbout Reception: April 10\, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.\nLogos Books\, 513 Second Street\, Davis\, CA\, 95616 \n“My work transforms the relatively short life of a bloom into a lasting narrative of memory. As a child I gathered wildflowers and imagined their petals as silken ball gowns\, and that sense of play informs how I approach my artwork. I don’t just paint flowers; I paint the memories they evoke. I am drawn to the fleeting magical beauty of blooms. The transparency and fluidity of watercolor makes it ideal for capturing the subtle gradients of petals\, leaves and stems\, and it is these qualities that create the aura for organic and vibrant florals. Through this series of floral paintings I want to share the beauty of flowers\, and my fond memories of them\, with others.” \nAfter moving to Davis in 1974 Jerri Chamberlain dedicated her career to education by serving as a para-educator teaching reading. After she retired she painted with watercolors and oils as a creative outlet in order to maintain an active\, inquisitive mind. Her pieces have been shown at the Pence Gallery\, The Paint Chip\, and the annual Art Farm Gala. Jerri continues to explore the intersection of memory\, nature\, and lifelong learning via her artistic endeavors. \nMeet Jerri Chamberlain at her 2nd Friday ArtAbout reception on April 10 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. \nPublic receptions for local artists will also be held at various venues on that same evening in conjunction with the Davis Downtown 2nd Friday ArtAbout. SUMMARY:2nd Friday ArtAbout Reception: David Kalb and Nancy Gelbard
DESCRIPTION:A collaborative exhibition by David Kalb and Nancy Gelbard\, exploring how two artists respond to the same moments in distinct yet connected ways. David’s street photographs capture spontaneous\, unguarded scenes from everyday life while Nancy’s oil paintings are created directly from these photographs\, allowing her to revisit and reinterpret the images. \nMoving from lens to brush\, the work reflects an ongoing dialogue between two ways of seeing—and the shared experience of observing the world together. In addition to their shared artistic experience\, each artist is also exhibiting individual pieces of their work.
