The photographs and descriptions detail journeys full of friendship\, family and independent achievements. They also reveal more about the woman behind the album.

This award supports the creation of new work by emerging artists in California and the opportunity to share that work through an exhibit and an artist talk in January-February 2027 at the Pence. \nArtists must use the award of $4000 to further their work in a significant direction\, and may work in any medium\, except for video or sound art. ‘Emerging’ is defined as an artist early in their art career\, who has limited experience exhibiting\, but not an extensive solo exhibit history. The artist’s submitted work must be of high caliber\, original\, and completed within the past five years. \nApplications must include a resume\, an artist statement\, and 10-15 digital images of current work\, by 9 PM PST on April 9\, 2026. SUMMARY:"Happy Hour" Schorré Chevalier Oldham: Paintings including Acrylic & Paper Collages
DESCRIPTION:Schorré states that her exhibit\, Happy Hour\, is about facing uncertainty with optimism. “Working daily with my simplified palette in solitude allows me to create what makes me happy.” The limited color palette of red\, yellow\, and blue with black and white provided unlimited possibilities. Project 365’s small collages were constructed using papers created on a gel plate with acrylic paint. The prints are texture-rich with repetitive and irregular patterns. The larger paintings\, while using the same elements\, expanded her use of color\, depth\, and rhythm. \nThis body of work is her way of making sense of the world around her. In the midst of big life changes requiring shifts in perspective\, making art was\, and is\, her lifeline. Working daily with the simplified palette in solitude allows Schorré to create what makes her happy.

DESCRIPTION:Local residents throughout the Sacramento region are eligible to file their taxes for free through United Way California Capital Region’s Free Tax Prep program that runs through April 15. Households that earned less than $68\,000 in 2025 can file for free\, and trained tax volunteers will help maximize cash back from state and federal credits\, including the federal and state Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC and CalEITC). United Way’s Free Tax Prep program saves participants an average of $200 in preparer fees. The program provides free tax help virtually and in person in multiple languages and locations across Amador\, El Dorado\, Placer\, Sacramento and Yolo counties. Here is how it works: \n  \nFilmmakers will be given a short amount of time (one month) to create a short film that will be screened at the Davis Flash Film Challenge Film Festival on February 28\, 2026. You can create any type of film that you want\, as long as it is PG-13 appropriate. But here is the catch… your submitted film must include a specific filmmaking prompt that will be shared at the film prompt reveal event on January 28\, 2026 at the Everywhere Science studio in Davis\, CA. The prompt might be a specific line of dialogue. It might be a specific location. It might be a character. It might be a prop. You won’t know until the reveal event (so don’t start making your film until you know what must be in it!!!) \n​ \nAll of the films submitted for the challenge will be shown at our Davis Flash Film Festival at Sudwerk Brewing on the evening of February 28\, 2026. SUMMARY:Davis Forest School Spring Programs Registration Open
DESCRIPTION:Registration is open for Davis Forest School Spring 2026 programs! This spring we are offering our: \n– After School Program in Davis\, Orangevale/Folsom and Sacramento. This program is characterized by a thoughtful blend of child-led exploration with elements of naturalist studies\, nature connection routines\, earth skills\, and imaginative play. We have programs available for 5 – 12 year olds\, with different age groupings to choose from and staggered drop-off/pick-up times. Most kids come once a week\, but you are welcome to register for as many sessions as you like. \n– Parent/Child Program in Davis\, Sacramento\, Folsom\, Lincoln/Rocklin\, and West Roseville. This program features nurturing and community-building facilitated weekly sessions for families with babies and young children. The program is geared at ages 0-6\, but all ages are welcome. \n– Homeschool Days Program in Davis\, Folsom Lake\, Sacramento\, and Lincoln/Rocklin. Like our after-school programs\, Homeschool Days is characterized by a thoughtful blend of child-led exploration with elements of naturalist studies\, nature connection routines\, earth skills\, and imaginative play. Our Lincoln location offers a class for 5 – 12 year olds and our other locations are geared for 7 – 12 year olds\, with younger children being considered on a case-by-case basis.
