SUMMARY:Charlene Will: Here for a While
DESCRIPTION:Charlene Will: Here for a While\nExhibit: January 9 – February 28\, 2026\nReception: Friday\, January 9\, 6-9 PM (free)\nCharlene Will’s work is rooted in a reverence for nature. Through her abiding interest in exploring the depths of California’s remote wilderness areas\, she seeks to reaffirm basic universal truths\, from an interest in beauty and nature’s rebirth\, to the duality between chaos and order. Working with oils on canvas\, she uses traditional and self-taught brushwork\, glazes\, and the removal of layers to reveal the ephemeral qualities of light and color found in various natural ecosystems. \nArtist Talk with Charlene Will\nSaturday\, January 31\, 2-3:30 PM\n$10 (Free for Students & Members)\nThe artist will give a walk-through of her work\, covering her favorite locations to paint\, how color and light inspires her\, and the noticeable effects of climate on the natural world. Walking\, observing\, and moving through wilderness areas are paramount to her process\, and she’ll provide glimpses into how her work evolves. \nCharlene Will is the recipient of the 2025 Pence Gallery Emerging Artist Award. The Award and exhibit are sponsored by Rosa Marquez & Yatish Mishra. \nImage: Charlene Will\, “Anza Borrego”

SUMMARY:"Happy Hour" Schorré Chevalier Oldham: Paintings including Acrylic & Paper Collages
DESCRIPTION:Schorré states that her exhibit\, Happy Hour\, is about facing uncertainty with optimism. “Working daily with my simplified palette in solitude allows me to create what makes me happy.” The limited color palette of red\, yellow\, and blue with black and white provided unlimited possibilities. Project 365’s small collages were constructed using papers created on a gel plate with acrylic paint. The prints are texture-rich with repetitive and irregular patterns. The larger paintings\, while using the same elements\, expanded her use of color\, depth\, and rhythm. \nThis body of work is her way of making sense of the world around her. In the midst of big life changes requiring shifts in perspective\, making art was\, and is\, her lifeline. Working daily with the simplified palette in solitude allows Schorré to create what makes her happy.

SUMMARY:100+ Women Who Care Yolo County Quarterly Giving Circle
DESCRIPTION:100+ Women Who Care Yolo County is an extraordinary group of women who make an immediate\, direct\, and positive impact on Yolo County through collective giving. Our members commit to giving $100 each quarter to a nonprofit serving Yolo County that is selected by the members. Since our first meeting in November 2016\, 100+ Women Who Care Yolo County has collectively donated over $420\,000 to more than 25 nonprofits. We’ve made a big impact using our simple model of giving together. \nWe meet just four times a year (February\, May\, August\, and November) and each meeting includes a half hour of socializing followed by a one hour meeting. We hear short presentations from three nonprofits\, we vote\, then everyone donates to the selected organization. Just like that your $100 donation can turn into a $10\,000 collective donation and make a big impact! \nOn February 19th we will consider:\nMosaic Children’s Museum\nTherapeutic Riding and Off-Track Rehabilitation (T.R.O.T.R.)\nPence Gallery \nWe are pleased to be partnering with our local Sudwerk Brewing Company to make our meetings fun and festive as we come together to support nonprofits working in our local community. We’ll start with time to mingle from 7pm-7:30pm so you can connect with each other\, meet representatives from the nonprofits\, and ask any questions you may have. The meetings begin promptly at 7:30pm where we’ll hear from three nonprofits and then vote to decide who will be the recipient of our collective gift. We’ll also hear from previous recipients about the impact of our gifts and randomly select the nonprofits to invite to the next meeting. \nEveryone is welcome! No RSVP or reservation required to attend. Only members can vote\, but you don’t have to be a member to attend. New members are welcome anytime and commit to donating $100 per quarter for at least one year. If you are interested in joining as a member prior to the meeting\, please visit our website: https://www.100wwcyolo.org

SUMMARY:Author Talk: Carolina Ixta
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening with author and educator Carolina Ixta as we hear about her sophomore novel\, Few Blue Skies. \nAbout the Book \nIn her latest novel\, Pura Belpré Award–winning author Carolina Ixta weaves a tender story about love and hope\, following a teen as she works to protect her family and community from a major corporation taking over her town. \nPaloma Vistamontes is heartbroken. A year ago\, her ex-boyfriend\, Julio Ramos\, broke up with her after his father’s death\, a tragedy that drove Paloma and him apart. Ever since then\, the mountains have felt flatter\, the sky farther away. \nNow\, her hometown of San Fermín\, a place where honest people work on farms and in factories\, is in danger. Selva\, a massive e-commerce conglomerate\, threatens to open one of their warehouses beside her high school. \nThis isn’t the first time they’ve done this. Since Selva arrived\, they’ve opened warehouses everywhere where there used to be green spaces. Because of them\, the air pollution is so bad that school is often canceled. Many people\, including Paloma’s ever-practical Ma\, want to leave. \nBut Paloma wants nothing more than to stay. Because when the smog clears\, there is still hope. That hope drives Paloma to reconnect with Julio to expose and challenge the dangers that Selva introduces to communities like their own. Can they stop Selva from destroying everything they know? Is there still a chance for their budding romance? \nAbout the Author \nCarolina Ixta is a writer from Oakland\, California. A daughter of Mexican immigrants\, she received her BA in creative writing and Spanish language and literature at the University of California\, Santa Cruz\, and obtained her master’s degree in education at the University of California\, Berkeley. Her debut novel\, Shut Up\, This Is Serious\, was a Morris Award finalist\, an LA Times Book Prize finalist\, and the winner of the Pura Belpré Award. Few Blue Skies is her sophomore novel.
