SUMMARY:Charlene Will: Here for a While
DESCRIPTION:Charlene Will: Here for a While\nExhibit: January 9 – February 28\, 2026\nReception: Friday\, January 9\, 6-9 PM (free)\nCharlene Will’s work is rooted in a reverence for nature. Through her abiding interest in exploring the depths of California’s remote wilderness areas\, she seeks to reaffirm basic universal truths\, from an interest in beauty and nature’s rebirth\, to the duality between chaos and order. Working with oils on canvas\, she uses traditional and self-taught brushwork\, glazes\, and the removal of layers to reveal the ephemeral qualities of light and color found in various natural ecosystems. \nArtist Talk with Charlene Will\nSaturday\, January 31\, 2-3:30 PM\n$10 (Free for Students & Members)\nThe artist will give a walk-through of her work\, covering her favorite locations to paint\, how color and light inspires her\, and the noticeable effects of climate on the natural world. Walking\, observing\, and moving through wilderness areas are paramount to her process\, and she’ll provide glimpses into how her work evolves. \nCharlene Will is the recipient of the 2025 Pence Gallery Emerging Artist Award. The Award and exhibit are sponsored by Rosa Marquez & Yatish Mishra. \nImage: Charlene Will\, “Anza Borrego”

SUMMARY:"Happy Hour" Schorré Chevalier Oldham: Paintings including Acrylic & Paper Collages
DESCRIPTION:Schorré states that her exhibit\, Happy Hour\, is about facing uncertainty with optimism. “Working daily with my simplified palette in solitude allows me to create what makes me happy.” The limited color palette of red\, yellow\, and blue with black and white provided unlimited possibilities. Project 365’s small collages were constructed using papers created on a gel plate with acrylic paint. The prints are texture-rich with repetitive and irregular patterns. The larger paintings\, while using the same elements\, expanded her use of color\, depth\, and rhythm. \nThis body of work is her way of making sense of the world around her. In the midst of big life changes requiring shifts in perspective\, making art was\, and is\, her lifeline. Working daily with the simplified palette in solitude allows Schorré to create what makes her happy.

SUMMARY:Jessica Malone Duo Live @ The Melon Ball
DESCRIPTION:Watermelon Music is proud to launch it’s new partnership with Left of the Dial Promotions. We will be presenting a series of Friday night concerts\, the first being the Jessica Malone folk music duo. \nFrom dimly-lit\, solo acoustic songbird confessions to rambunctious & rollicking full-band jubilees\, award-winning songwriter Jessica Malone takes listeners on a musical journey with the destination landing somewhere between self discovery and reverie. \nEmbracing her Northern California roots\, Malone blends soulful lyrics with an earnest sound\, bringing to life the landscapes of her home. Her oft-mellifluous\, occasionally gritty\, and always captivating vocals—accompanied by rich upright bass\, heavenly harmonies\, and soaring violin—will guide you across a musical terrain of retro soul\, indie folk\, and Americana vibrations. \nAppearing at a multitude of festivals—including Napa Earth\, Davis Music\, and BottleRock—Malone has performed on prominent stages such as The Harris Center Three and The Mondavi Center\, while opening for the likes of Arlo Guthrie\, Joe Craven\, Front Country\, and John Paul White. \nJessica’s tone is best describe as a blend of Nicki Bluhm\, Joni Mitchell\, and a magic all her own. \nPresented by Left of the Dial Promotions and KDRT 95.7FM

SUMMARY:Davis Flash Film Challenge & Festival
DESCRIPTION:Davis Flash Film Challenge \n  \nCalling all filmmakers in the Davis\, CA area. Everywhere Science is pleased to announce the first ever Davis Flash Film Challenge! Here is how it works: \n  \nFilmmakers will be given a short amount of time (one month) to create a short film that will be screened at the Davis Flash Film Challenge Film Festival on February 28\, 2026. You can create any type of film that you want\, as long as it is PG-13 appropriate. But here is the catch… your submitted film must include a specific filmmaking prompt that will be shared at the film prompt reveal event on January 28\, 2026 at the Everywhere Science studio in Davis\, CA. The prompt might be a specific line of dialogue. It might be a specific location. It might be a character. It might be a prop. You won’t know until the reveal event (so don’t start making your film until you know what must be in it!!!) \n \nAll of the films submitted for the challenge will be shown at our Davis Flash Film Festival at Sudwerk Brewing on the evening of February 28\, 2026. There will be a panel of judges who will be awarding prizes\, and of course there will also be an audience award so bring your friends to cheer for your film! \n \nCheck out the FAQ for more info. \nEmail craig@everywhere-science.org with any questions

SUMMARY:Little Coyotes Forest Kinder Open House
DESCRIPTION:Davis Forest School’s all-outdoors preschool/kinder program for 3-6 year olds gives children the opportunity to learn and play in the rhythm of the seasons\, while building friendships\, resilience\, and a deep sense of belonging in nature. Like we often say\, children have the rest of their lives to be indoors\, so let’s keep these early years wild and in connection with the land. \nFor the 2026-2027 school year\, we are excited to offer all five days (Monday-Fridays) in Davis and Sacramento. Families will have the flexibility to choose which days work best for their families. We are also delighted to share that we will have a Folsom location for Little Coyotes this upcoming year! \nJoin us for one of our three upcoming Open Houses\, where we’ll welcome new families\, walk the land together\, and share the heart of our work. The Open Houses will be on: \n-Saturday\, February 21st from 11:00am-12:30pm in Davis\n-Saturday\, February 28th from 11:00am-12:30pm in Sacramento\n-Saturday\, March 7th from 11:00am-12:30pm in Folsom \nPlease fill out the brief RSVP form to let us know which Open House you are interested in joining. As we get closer to the Open House date you select\, we will reach out to your family with more information. \nDavis Forest School’s website is: https://davisforestschool.org/programs/littlecoyotes/
