SUMMARY:Color / Texture / Pattern at Gallery 625
DESCRIPTION:Gallery 625’s current exhibition is an appreciation of color\, texture\, and pattern explored through photography. Featuring 21 Northern California artists and over 50 artworks\, Color / Texture / Pattern highlights a wide range of perspectives\, styles\, and subject matter. \nHosted by YoloArts in partnership with the Woodland Camera Forum\, this photography exhibition aligns with Photography Month Sacramento 2026\, which will take place in April. Photography Month is a region-wide celebration of the photographic arts reaching across communities and bringing people together. \nPhotography Month Sacramento remarks\, “When we take and share photographs we are creating a common visual history and visual language. Exhibitions of photographic art hold a mirror up to society\, reflecting its interests and concerns while simultaneously confronting its ideologies and preconceptions. \nPhotography Month helps create opportunities for photographic artists by creating more physical spaces dedicated to the appreciation of the photographic arts and to create opportunities for vital discussions about images and ideas\, to bring diverse communities together in a shared space\, and to generate income for the local economy.” \nGallery 625 will hold a reception for Color / Texture / Pattern on Friday\, April 3\, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. with live music provided by Harold Sexton and light refreshments. At 6:15 p.m. award winners will be announced. The “Best in Show” award\, sponsored by Blue Wing Gallery\, will be presented by Al Eby. The “Second Prize” award\, sponsored by the Woodland Camera Forum\, will be presented by Susan Lord Bovey. \nThe “People’s Choice” award\, sponsored by YoloArts\, will open for voting on March 19 and close on April 15. The award winner will be announced via Social Media on April 17. To participate in voting\, please visit our website at https://yoloarts.org/gallery-625/. \nColor / Texture / Pattern is on view at Gallery 625 from March 19 through April 23\, 2026. \nRegular open hours of Gallery 625 are Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. \nGallery 625 is located in the Erwin Meyer County Administration building at 625 Court St. in \nWoodland. SUMMARY:The Abstract Language of Ceramics
DESCRIPTION:The Abstract Language of Ceramics\nExhibit: April 10 – June 3\, 2026\nReception: April 10\, 6-9 PM (Free) \nThe Abstract Language of Ceramics features the work of ceramic artists Karyn Gabriel\, Mark Goudy\, Kris Marubayashi\, Liza Riddle\, and Laura Van Duren. Together\, these artists create striking geometric and biomorphic forms that underline their pursuit of simple forms inspired by nature. Karyn Gabriel’s woven vessels and hangings merge the idea of fiber and weaving with the flexible nature of clay. Goudy’s current sculptures are modeled on mathematical equations\, which he adapts on the computer\, using new technology to design and create molded forms. Kris Marubayashi’s vessels have a sense of movement and balance\, and employ natural textures and an earth-toned palette. Liza Riddle’s modified cubes\, hanging plinths\, and circles use color sparingly to emphasize the beauty of cracks that form while drying. Laura Van Duren shows a playful incorporation of found objects\, textiles\, and clay\, closely resembling the corporal reality of human interaction. \nThis exhibit is sponsored by Hollie Malamud & Chris Kelsch\, and Helen McClosky\, in memory of ceramicist Shelly Simon. \nImage:\nLaura Van Duren\, “Curl”\nKris Marubayashi\, Untitled\nKaryn Gabriel\, “Aspen Brick”\nMark Goudy\, “Flux Series”\nLiza Riddle\, Untitled

SUMMARY:Alex Jenkins Trio Live @ The Melon Ball
DESCRIPTION:Join acclaimed percussionist Alex Jenkins (Drum Set and Tabla)\, along with Dyne Eifertsen on trombone and Ian Barlow on bass\, as they invite us into an intimate evening of top notch jazz. These Sacramento musicians are among the most talented in the region\, truly creative\, and promise an evening full of beautiful surprises. Jenkins’ latest trio record\, “Black Bird” received a 4 star review in the music publication\, “All About Jazz”\, and has been played on radio stations across the country. \nDue to his in-depth study of the music of different cultures\, Alex’s playing transcends musical traditions and boundaries. His expression of rhythm is heavily influenced by his study of Tabla (a North Indian Classical Percussion instrument). As a result\, he has become known for his creative approach to music and his unique ability to fuse rhythmic ideas from various disciplines\, into one cohesive sound.
