Poetry Night: Miles Miniaci

November 4, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Poetry Night in full swing! Please join us tonight at 7 PM (Thursday, November 4th), on the first floor of the John Natsoulas Gallery, 521 1st Street in Davis, for a poetry reading by Miles Miniaci, with an open mic to follow.

Miles Miniaci is a poet, author, actor, and musician. He earned his BA from San Francisco State University and his MFA from the University of Southern California. His most recent book is the poetry collection Maps and Legends, published by Polymer Grove Press. Additionally, his poetry and fiction have appeared in The American River Literary Review, Catchphrase Collection, and Harpoon, among others, and he has been a featured reader at such venues as Luna’s, H. Q. Center for the Arts, The Black Box in San Francisco, and M Bar in Los Angeles.

Miles Miniaci prose has been seen—or heard—in ‘zines, e-‘zines, and podcasts, including Short Bus, Retrocrush, and The Jane Crown Show on BlogTalk radio. He also publishes scholarly articles for journals such as American Quarterly (California American Studies Association) and ATHE News (The Association for Theatre in Higher Education). In addition to writing, Miniaci has made his living as a professional actor, a high school and college instructor, and an arts administrator. He lives in Sacramento with his partner, Beth, and their children, Gabriel and Maya.

The Poetry Night Reading Series, taking place on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 7 PM, is generously supported by the people and poets of the Sacramento Valley, and by John Natsoulas and the staff at the John Natsoulas Gallery. As Dr. Andy will be celebrating his wife Kate’s birthday on November 4th, your host for this event will be Cosumnes River College professor Frank Dixon Graham, also a well-known and widely-published poet in Sacramento who serves on the Board of the Directors of the Sacramento Poetry Alliance. Graham will be assisted by Poetry Night intern Spencer Rico.

This event will take place at the Natsoulas Gallery (521 1st Street) at 7 PM (note the time) on Thursday, November 4th. There will be an open mic after the Miniaci performance. Open mic performances will be limited to five minutes or two items, whichever is shorter. Please mask your vaccinated selves before joining us at the John Natsoulas Gallery.

Please join us on Thursday, November 4th, at 7 PM at 521 1st Street in Davis. Plan also to return to the Gallery on November 18th at 7 PM for Tory Jollimore, winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award, and Heather Altfeld, winner of the Pablo Neruda Prize for Poetry.
