One event on May 18, 2022 at 11:30 am
Artist Viola Frey (1933-2004) played a huge role in the Bay Area’s historic ceramic revolution. Her legacy has continued to thrive at California College of the Arts. This exhibition pays tribute to the innovation and experimentation she fostered as head of CCA’s ceramics studio. Includes a sculpture by alumni Peter Voulkos and Robert Arneson. Also view work by recent graduates Woody De Othello, Crystal Morey, Mary Alison Lucas, Carmen Lang, and others. The exhibition spans 70 years of groundbreaking ceramic education. Work by current faculty such as Chair Nathan Lynch, Arthur Gonzalez, Nancy Selvin, John Toki, and Kari Marboe exemplifies the diverse range of expression that the ceramic program has maintained during Lynch’s leadership.
