Painting Workshop (Mixed Media Portrait Painting)

January 30 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

WORKSHOP: PAINTING THE UNKNOWN

This workshop will take you through the process of realizing an image through a procedure with a variety of mediums, from wet to dry. you will be supplied with a wood panel; which then you will have the freedom of working with dry and wet media; then sealing the surface; you will then work on top of that creating an image with depth, patina and nuance; this is a process which allows the freedom of realizing happy accidents and the spontaneity of painting/mark making. the workshop will provide a wood panel surface, reference material (portraits), dry media, charcoal, pastels, chalk, wet media, acrylic paint. supplies will be limited; so attendees are encouraged to bring any art materials they may want to use (e.g more paint colors/brushes/etc.) the workshop demo will be focused on the portrait; but artists are not limited to the portrait as the subject matter; the goal is for attendees to leave with a realized piece within the time constraints of the workshop; while learning a process that embraces both structure and chaos.

Topics covered will be; value control, head drawing, abstraction, color harmony; color variety;broken color
