Imagining America’s 2021 National Gathering, The Shape of Us: Water Ways and Movements
October 21 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
One event on October 22, 2021 at 8:00 am
An invitation to reimagine the ways we shape and are shaped by water.
The Imagining America consortium (IA) brings together scholars, artists, designers, humanists, and organizers to imagine, study, and enact a more just and liberatory ‘America’ and world. Working across institutional, disciplinary, and community divides, IA strengthens and promotes public scholarship, cultural organizing, and campus change that inspires collective imagination, knowledge-making, and civic action on pressing public issues.
Imagining America’s 2021 National Gathering, The Shape of Us: Water Ways and Movements, will be held virtually this October 21-22. Attracting participants from around the United States and world, this event will showcase award-winning and nationally recognized artists, scholars, and other local and national leaders who are reimagining and redesigning the ways we relate to water within the context of climate change and our global water crisis.
We invite you on a two-day virtual journey where we’ll consider water as both a focus of, and inspiration for, publicly engaged scholarship, creative practices, and cultural organizing. Through artist, scholar, and organizer talks, performances, participatory workshops, there will be opportunities to learn about IA projects, research, and membership including roundtables, workshops, and lightning talks!
This event is free and open to the public and will be live streamed on IA’s YouTube channel.
Sponsorship Opportunities: Support IA in creating the conditions to shift culture and transform inequitable institutional and societal structures, as well as increasing equitable access to this virtual event by becoming a sponsor.
